Thirty Day Blogging Challenge: Day 11

Wow, I can’t believe I’m already on day eleven of the challenge! It’s definitely been ‘challenging’ at times, but I absolutely love it and I believe this is helping me grow as a writer. After a somewhat lengthy article yesterday, today’s post is going to be relatively short. The topic is ‘ten favorite foods’.

wpid-blogging-challenge

  1. Bean burgers & fries-I absolutely love this combo. It’s my go-to-meal at my favorite restaurant…Chili’s! You seriously need to try that meal if you ever go there, it is the best!🍔🍟
  2. Cake, cookies, donuts, and pretty much anything from the bakery-Confession, I have a major sweet tooth! I’m pretty sure that the local grocery store bakery is what Heaven smells like. 🎂🍪🍩
  3. Pizza-Does this really need any further explanation? The bread, sauce and cheese make this meal absolutely amazing. 🍕
  4. Spaghetti-Food for thought (Pun intended), spaghetti is a little like pizza in noodle form. 🍝
  5. Brussels sprouts-I know, this one looks very out of place on the list, but when they’re cooked and sautéed right, they taste incredible!
  6. Garlic bread-Garlic bread and bread sticks are awesome. At this point, you’ve probably figured out that I have a weakness for carbs. 🍞
  7. Soy burgers-Fun fact: I’m a vegetarian. Thus, to replace meats, I often eat soy chicken, and soy burgers. They’re actually very good, contrary to most stereotypes about soy products. 🍔
  8. Mac & cheese-It’s kind of like spaghetti…only with cheese. 🍜
  9. Cereal-Peanut-butter granola cereal has been my go-to lately.
  10. Corn-One of my favorite vegetables.

Thirty Day Blogging Challenge: Day 9

wpid-blogging-challenge

Hey everyone, it’s day-number-nine of the thirty day blogging challenge (I really need to come up with some better openings for these challenges…)! After some pretty deep and thought provoking questions, today is a more fun/quirky one…what’s in my bag?

In this post, you’ll find out just how disorganized I really am! I may struggle with OCD, but that OCD doesn’t always translate into organization! In other words, I really need to clean out my purse before college…

So, without further ado, here are the objects in my purse!

1. A Winnie the Pooh and cross thingamajig that a friend made for me a year ago: The Winnie the Pooh one used to have a nose but it came off. I’m pretty sure these are supposed to be keychains, but since I don’t have a car, I’ve  just used them as decor for my bag.

2. More pens and pencils than I know what to do with: Seriously, I should do a free pen giveaway on this blog. Although shipping them might get a little tricky… 😜

3. Two notebooks: One is the Gators because my family is a fan of the team. The other is just a decorative one with designs and my initial.

4. Lots of random papers and old receipts that honestly just need to go: When my backpack got too full during the school year, I often shoved papers into my purse. Probably not the wisest thing to do in retrospect, but I survived in the midst of the disorganization!

IMG_0911.jpg

5. Shades: Because it is way too hot and sunny where I live.

IMG_0912

6. Hand sanitizer: Yes, one of them is Christmas themed. No, I am not ashamed.

IMG_0915

7. Wallets: Nothing too interesting to say here. I got them both as gifts which is why there are two.

IMG_0918

8. A graduation card and a thank you card. Confession. I have a graduation card that my whole class signed that I still haven’t given to my best friend. I really need to do that next time I see her. Sorry Alex!

And lastly…the bag! I’ll be back tomorrow with a vacation story!

Thirty Day Blogging Challenge: Day 8

wpid-blogging-challenge

Hey everyone, I hope y’all are having a good morning! Today is day-number-eight of the blogging challenge (Still going strong!) and the topic this morning is ‘Five current goals.’ I’ve been thinking about this one for a couple of days now, and I’ve finally managed to come up with some!

  1. Get back into the Word-Sadly, I’ve been horrible about reading my Bible this summer. Though I have more time on my hands than I know what to do with, I haven’t necessarily used it wisely. I’ve ended up spending my time scrolling through my Twitter feed and completely forgetting to read the Bible. I plan to get back to faithfully reading it today. Perhaps committing to this in writing will serve as a good reminder to myself.
  2. Continue to work towards my goal of making it as a writer-Aside from the writing that I do on this blog, I have a fiction series that I’ve been working on since Freshman year. Obviously my writing has evolved a good deal since I was fourteen, so there have been plenty of revisions over the years. Currently, I’m revising book #1 and I’m almost finished. My goal is to finish it before summer ends.
  3. Have a successful first semester of college-This is going to be my first year of college, which also means my first step into adulthood and my first time in a secular school. I don’t quite know what to expect, but I know that God has a plan for this chapter and I’m going to trust that He’ll lead and guide me through this step. I plan to stay on top of schoolwork and work hard towards my degree.
  4. Enjoy the last remnants of summer-Admittedly, I’ve kind of been facing summer boredom lately, but I want to enjoy this break before it ends. I’m not going to have this kind of free time much longer, and I need to use this break as a sabbatical and rest before the crazy kicks in (Yes, I got that line from Francesca Battistelli). Before I know it, it’s going to be term papers and tests, so I need to make the most of summer while I have it!
  5. Trust God with the future-I’m honestly not sure what the future holds, but I know that God does. As much as I tend to want to know what I’m doing and when, I kind of need to accept that I don’t know the future. Unfortunately, I can’t travel twenty years into the future like Michael J. Fox did in Back To The Future. But, I can trust the one who holds my future. He has all of it figured out, even when I don’t.

For all of you still following me on this challenge, here’s a slice of cake! 🍰

Thanks for sticking with me! You guys are awesome!

Thirty Day Blogging Challenge: Day 7

wpid-blogging-challenge

Happy Sunday everyone! I can’t believe it’s already been a week of the thirty day challenge! Today’s post is about my five favorite songs! Because I have so many favorite songs, I decided to narrow it down to my top five at the moment. So, without further ado, here’s my playlist!

  • Fight Song by Rachel PlattenI think this will forever be one of my favorites! It’s super inspiring and makes you feel like you can take on the world! It’s a classic power pop anthem, right up there with Stronger by Kelly Clarkson. The chorus is awesome, but the lyrics in the intro are probably my favorite part. “Like a small boat on the ocean sending big waves into motion. Like how a single word can make a heart open. I may only have one match but I can make an explosion.
  • Hanging By A Moment by LifehouseI absolutely love the meaning and depth of this song! To me, it seems to be a heartfelt prayer from a new or returning Christian. It has an amazing rawness to the lyrics and I can feel the honesty seep through in the words.”Forgetting all I’m lacking completely incomplete, I’ll take your invitation, you take all of me” is probably one of my favorite lines.
  • The God I Know by Love & The OutcomeI love this song both as a perfectionist and as someone who likes upbeat Christian music! This song tackle the topic of trying hard to be good enough, but then realizing that God is enough and we’re saved only by Him. If you’ve read my review of Grace For The Good Girl, you’ll easily see how this song resonates with me. Plus, you can’t not get pulled in by the catchy ear worms in the chorus. “I can throw my hands up, worries down! I remember when He showed me how to break up with my doubts, once I was lost but now I’m found! No strings attached when He saved my soul, want you to know the God I know. Oh! You gotta know! Oh! The God I know!
  • Empty Me (The acoustic sessions) by Jeremy CampI re-found this song (Along with a whole bunch of old Jeremy Camp songs) recently and I’ve been listening to it a lot! It’s very chill and I love the unplugged sound of it. It repeats pretty much the same lyrics throughout the whole song, but somehow, he makes it work. “Holy fire burn away my desire for anything that is not of you and is of me. I want more of you
And less of me.” Plus, there’s no denying that he had some pretty awesome hair in this video. 😂
  • You And Me by Lifehouse-This song also has a nice acoustic sound to it. It’s a really sweet love song with an early 2000s vibe and it has a great music video! My favorite lines are probably “All of the things that I want to say just aren’t coming out right. I’m tripping on words, you’ve got my head spinning, I don’t know where to go from here.” Haven’t we all been there before? That literally describes every crush ever.

I hope you like my playlist! I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments section. I’ll be back tommorow with my top five current goals; wish me luck!

Thirty Day Blogging Challenge: Day 6

wpid-blogging-challenge

I once saw an insightful tweet that read “I’m not afraid of heights, I’m afraid of falling.”

This is pretty much sums up my fear of heights. Every time I’m on a high peak, there’s always that distinct realization in the back of my mind that I could fall…something that would not be pleasant and would likely be fatal.

I’ve pretty much had this fear for as long as I can remember. From the time I was a little girl, I’ve always been a tad wary of walking too close to the edge on the second story of the local mall. Even though there’s fairly tall railing, I somehow manage to come up with the worst possible scenarios where that wouldn’t be of help. What if someone violently bumps into me? Or what if I loose my balance and somehow flip over it? Crazy, I know, but this is a peak into the inside of my very OCD brain…

This is also the reason that I’ve never been on a roller coaster. I came very close when I was at Disney World with friends at age thirteen, but I backed out at the last second. Going rapidly upside-down and side-to-side about fifty feet off the ground? The nightmare of anyone afraid of heights! And, I pretty much panicked when I walked up to the top of a lighthouse on a family vacation. The wind blew fiercely and I was convinced that it was going to knock me right over the side (Yes, there were ropes, but that isn’t a convincing argument to my brain)!

Nonetheless, I would like to conquer this fear…at least a little bit. My best friend and I both mentioned riding a roller coaster together someday, conquering our united fear of those death machines! I don’t know when this will be, as I rarely go to theme parks, but I plan to ride one someday! I’ll be sure to update y’all when it happens. Until then, the lighthouse and the second story of the mall continue to be my most impressive feat of facing my fear of heights.

Thirty Day Blogging Challenge: Day 1

wpid-blogging-challenge

Big news everyone…I have joined the challenge! Both my friend Mfon from Dainty M. and my friend from Papberry have done blogging challenges, so I have decided to try one myself! Today’s post is about my blog’s name, 1timothy412girl.

I started my blog a little over a year ago, after discovering that a good friend of mine had a blog. I chose the name 1timothy412girl after the Bible verse 1 Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.I’ve always loved this verse because it is a reminder that even though I’m fairly young, I can still make a difference.

Recently, I added the tagline “Striving to live confidently in Christ. My goal on this blog is to inspire fellow believers, no matter how young or old, to live as an example and find their identity in God. I remember during my freshman year of high school I wanted so much to be confident, but I looked inward so much that I neglected to look upward. It can be so easy to try to form our identity around academics, hobbies, or our appearance, but God tells us to “Seek first the kingdom of God” in Matthew 6:33.

I soon found that once I made my faith a priority, I began to grow more confident. Today, I feel that I have a pretty firm grasp of who I am, and more importantly, who I am in Christ.

To conclude, I’m very excited to take on this challenge and I hope you guys will journey with me on my longest series yet!
